Among all the new and revived crafts of the last 10 years, it is probably candlemaking that does most to encourage the creative spirit.
Candlemaking appeals to all age groups and sparks off enthusiasm in the most unlikely people.
Candle Makers Supplies first introduced our popular style of candlemaking to the UK 30 years ago. Since then we have produced countless articles for part-works, newspapers, magazines and three books about the craft. We have also been a centre where hundreds of candlemakers have shared their knowledge.
'Making Candles' is the fruit of that experience, and shows how to make candles at home using a minimum of special equipment. The video demonstrates a wide variety of techniques; from the traditional dipped candle, through casting in moulds and hand moulding, to a wide variety of highly imaginative finishing techniques. The latter part of the video shows some extraordinary methods of producing 'fantastic' candles.
Lesley Judd, formerly of BBC TV's 'Blue Peter', produces a stimulating and instructive commentary.
An illustrated book 'Making Candles' has also been produced which shows in detailed yet simple step by step instructions, the making of all the candles featured in this video. Now also available as a download product. |
