Flexible Mould Information

Special Hints on using Flexible Moulds

Flexible moulds are probably the easiest moulds to use - but care must be taken as the candle cools.

A solution of 50% washing up liquid and 50% water painted on the inside of the mould and left to dry will aid mould release.

About 15 to 20 minutes after pouring, depending on the size of the candle, the wax will begin to set and contract.

It is at this initial stage of contraction that the candle is in a critical state. Keep the surface broken and do not let the well set. Do not top up until there is no more liquid wax left in the well.

As soon as the candle has set, but when still warm, remove it from the mould to preserve the moulds life. Put a solution of washing up liquid and water on the outside of the mould to enable rolling back the mould off of the candle.

Read "Making Candles", "Beginners Guide to Making Candles" or "Candlemaking Creative Designs and Tecnniques" for further information.

Flexible moulds will stretch with use.

Cleaning - Wash with warm soapy water and dry.
