Candlemakers Supplies are proud to be involved with an innovative fund raising and hopefully record setting event: Cranleigh Candlepower.
20,008 candles will be lit in a twilight ceremony to create a carpet of flame to raise money for a new ambulance for St John Cranleigh Division. A giant gesture but each candle will also represent a personal act of remembrance. The aim is for each one of the 20,008 candles to be sponsored by members of the public, and lit in memory of someone or something dear to them.
How many candles have been lit in one place at one time? There's a record for the most number of candles on a cake (4,000) but not one for candles in general. So it was decided: to light as many candles in one place as possible.
As well as an attempt to enter the Guiness Book of Records and fund a new ambulance the event offers a way of supporting a worthy cause that carries a meaningful dedication for all who participate.
